Today, LED screens are the only technology to provide high-quality full-color image in any outdoor light conditions. LED screens continue to effectively perform their task even under direct sun outage.
In addition to the basic advantages, it is also possible to mention a number of other ones that differentiate these devices from other information display facilities. They include: the ability to create seamless screens of practically any size and configuration, a wide operating temperature range (from -30 to +50 degrees Celsius), as well as large, compared to other display devices, operating life: about 10 years of the full-time operation.
LED screens are used both indoors and outdoors. The main application domains of LED screens include outdoor advertising, public events and festivities, concerts, stadiums, exhibition halls, railway stations, airports, entertainment centers, TV studios, conference rooms, and control rooms.
General characteristics of the LED screen
The screen is an integrated structure assembled from the light waterproof LED modules that can be accurately displayed relative to each other in order to create a seamless image on the entire screen surface.
The image on the screen is created by diodes’ light emission (“Light Emitting Diodes” - LED). Due to composition of 3 main components of colors: red, green, and blue in different proportions, the formation of a light point – pixel – is achieved in a palette of more than 16.7 million colors! For this purpose diodes, emitting in the red, green and blue range and together forming a cluster, are placed next to each other in the LED screen. The distance between adjacent pixels (pitch) determines the resolution of the received image.
Resolution and density of the filling of the module with light emitting diodes are important characteristics of the LED screen and, ultimately, determine the minimum image viewing distance. For example, the minimum viewing distance for a display with a pixel pitch of 20 mm is a distance of 10-15 m, the optimum one is 20-100 m. The minimum viewing distance increases with the increase in the size of pitch.
The screen is controlled by special software installed on the computer (system unit is included to the delivery set) via the Internet network (wired or wireless one).
The control computer is connected to the screen by twisted-pair cable of FTP 5 category that is not more than 100 m long. In case of exceeding this cable length, the optical transmission line with the length of up to 1000 m can be used. This will require additional purchase and installation of optical receivers and transmitters.
Each module (cabinet) of a screen has a receiving and output air ducts. Air suction is carried out through receiving air duct, and the hot air is blown out of the module (cabinet) through the output air duct. Air supply and air blow are provided by the fan.
In case of fixed installation of the screen, the most efficient solution is to install a split system in which internal units of air conditioners have to be placed behind the screen, in an enclosed space, in order to maintain the temperature in the range from 100 to 250 C.
LED screens are suitable for placing on the facade and roof of the building, as well as for installation on poles. With any method of installation it should be possible to carry out the assembling and maintenance behind the screen. Alternatively, LED modules of the LED screen may have a front access for service maintenance.
